Unlike the rest of the album, this song was inspired by a place, rather than an emotional situation. As I was jogging through the cemetery near my house, I was struck by the density of experiences that had taken place there throughout high school. I'd gone with friends to socialize, alone to walk and stargaze, and had participated in a variety of other mischevious undertakings that probably ought not be mentioned here. Beyond this, the cemetery a place where I felt in touch with forces larger than myself- being surrounded by the evidence of human mortality has a way of making you forget small things. Thus, I felt that this thematic 'strange wood' would operate as a perfect foundation for building this album.

Light up like an atom bomb when you rip the stick off of this flare
