about

This song is a compilation of two situations that compliment each other thematically. The verses are an introspective look at being beaten down in the pursuit of love, and the deep rooted sense of cynicism and self-sabotage taken therefrom. The chorus serves to counter the verses by presenting the wonderful feeling of falling in love- an instantaneous, irrational burst of emotion that can leave one on their hands and knees.

lyrics

I used to search the world around, looking for things I never found
Like missing socks and sets of keys, love always ran away from me
Every night I'd go to bed, regrets running through my head
Some bite my neck, some hold me close, hard to say quite which hurts the most

But oh these tired eyes, I would pluck them from my head
If a pair of some other design would lend me greater perspective
The flowers that bloomed yesterday have withered and gone

But I was on my hands and knees for you, when I ain't even said grace before
Falling in and out of dreams for you, I'm not the king of my conscience you're not the queen of yours
Stunned in disbelief of you, a heart shot through out in the rain
Were you a valid source of grief or were you
Just a pretty way to go insane?

Steady at the wheel of course, the Captain threw me overboard
And if indeed it's sink or swim, this'll be my drowning hymn
Bluebell dreams of foxglove girls, past mistakes a string of pearls
Each shines brighter than the last, a bitter pill a judgement passed
